Our story

CAITANADAS

Caitanadas was born in 2018. We began by developing fully bespoke projects exclusively for restaurants: creative serving pieces with unexpected shapes, table sculptures, and unique objects featuring mechanisms and automated movements.

All these projects perfectly captured what Caitanadas was about: a combination of DESIGN, IMAGINATION, ENGINEERING, GASTRONOMY AND SURPRISE.

We didn’t want to repeat ourselves. And so, project after project, we began creating a small school of creativity applied to the dining table.

EVERY PROJECT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO IMAGINE SOMETHING NEW

One of the projects that marked a turning point during those early years was a crocodile inspired by the one in Peter Pan. Made from polymer material and operated by mechanical mechanisms, it would open its mouth to reveal a bite hidden inside, which the diner had to eat before the crocodile closed its jaws again. Ambivium was one of our great teachers. For years, we worked closely with Chef Cristóbal Muñoz, taking on challenge after challenge.

Many times, we didn’t know exactly how we were going to achieve what we had imagined. We had to design, manufacture, test, and solve problems along the way. It was a kind of master’s degree in creativity, design, and engineering.

Each piece was created for a specific restaurant, a specific chef, and a specific idea. And that level of demand pushed us to grow.

Between 2021 and 2022, we travelled from one end of Spain to the other. We went to meet chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants and show them what we did, but also—and above all—to listen to them.

We wanted to understand what they were looking for when creating a gastronomic experience. What they needed. What excited them. What they expected from an object that arrived at their table.

And we discovered something: Great chefs are constantly striving to IMPROVE, SURPRISE, MOVE, AND CREATE experiences that stay in people’s memories.

And within that experience, there are two particularly powerful moments:

- THE FIRST IMPRESSION: The first bite that sparks curiosity.

- THE LASTING MEMORY: The final sweet bite that lingers long after the experience has ended.

And, little by little, we accumulated something incredibly valuable: a deep understanding of the relationship between objects, gastronomy, and experience.

But another feeling began to emerge. A RESTLESSNESS

We had created extraordinary pieces that could only be experienced by a handful of people, in one particular restaurant, at one particular moment.

We wanted those ideas to travel.

We wanted to bring together everything we had learned and turn it into something that could become part of many more experiences.

In 2024, the moment finally arrived. A true turning point. We designed a jewel-like piece for one of our clients, crafted from brass and stone and conceived for the final moment of the petit fours. For the first time, we felt that we had found what we had been searching for over so many years: an object capable of bringing together our imagination, our aesthetic sensibility, and our obsession with creating something truly special in a single piece.

Shortly afterwards, a very special venue in Madrid asked us to create another jewel-like piece for its Afternoon Tea. That was when we realised that we no longer wanted to create solely for individual projects. We wanted to create our own language.

That is how our collection was born. A collection built on everything we had learned over those years, designed to accompany two of the most decisive moments in any gastronomic experience: the beginning and the end.

THE PERFECTION OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

Every piece goes through numerous processes before it is finished: cutting the material, machining, polishing, cleaning, assembly, jewellery soldering, fitting, and preparation before entering the kiln...

Some pieces require hours of work and an extraordinary level of precision.

When we work, we never feel that we are simply assembling objects. Each piece needs to be observed, understood, and given the time it deserves. Polished again. Adjusted. Cleaned. Inspected.

That is why, when someone acquires a Caitanadas piece, they are not simply taking home an object.

They are taking with them time, dedication, energy, craftsmanship, and an enormous amount of passion.

They are taking the result of countless hours spent creating something that perhaps was never necessary.

But once it exists, it becomes difficult to imagine the world without it.

ONE VISION, TWO WAYS OF SEEING IT

Caitanadas was born from Pablo’s imagination and grew through Alba’s determination.

He brings an infinite ability to imagine, an extraordinary sense of proportion and refinement, and an obsession with detail that transforms an idea into something tangible.

She brings the conviction that everything they were creating deserved to be known, shared, and taken much further.

Two different ways of seeing, moving in the same direction.

And at the heart of both remains something that has never changed since the beginning: the desire to bring beauty into the world.

TURNING THE UNNECESSARY INTO SOMETHING NECESSARY

Pablo’s grandmother, Teresa, used to call “Caitanadas” those things that were not necessary. Perhaps she was right.

A Caitanadas piece is not essential for eating. It does not make a dish taste better. It does not solve any basic need.

But it can do something else.

It can bring a conversation to a standstill for a few seconds.

It can spark a smile.

It can create a moment of surprise.

It can turn a bite into a memory.

It can make someone sitting at a table they may never return to feel, for a brief moment, that they are experiencing something truly special.

And perhaps that is the true meaning behind everything we do...
